Skills: 6+int modifier per level, quadruple at 1st level, class skills are Bluff , Concentration . Diplomacy , Disguise , Hide , Intimidate , Knowledge (any) , Listen , Move Silently , Search , Sense Motive , Spellcraft , Spot , Survival

Proficiencies:Simple and Martial weapons,  its own natural weapons

Features:

Sorrowsworn body:The Sorrowsworn Demon loses all other racial bonus and gains outsider traits (basicaly darkvision 60 feets). It's a medium sized outsider with base 40 feets and two natural Claw attacks each dealing 1d4+Str mod damage plus a natural Bite attack dealing 1d6+1/2 Str mod.

The Sorrowsworn Demon also gains a bonus to Nat armor equal to his Con modifier.

Ability increase:The Sorrowsworn Demon gains a permanent

+2 Con at first level and +1 Con at levels 4, 7, 10, 13,  16,  17, for a total of +8 Con at 17th level
+1 Cha at levels 3, 6, 9, 12, 15,  17, for a total of +6 Cha at 17th level
+1 Str at levels 2, 5, 8, 11, 13, 15, 17 for a total of +7 Str at 17th level.

Whispers of Loss: A sorrowsworn demon preys on an enemy’s feelings of loss, both real and projected. While engaged in combat, it whispers and hisses constantly, both aloud and in the minds of those creatures that can
understand it. A sorrowsworn demon can intensify these whispers, focusing them as a Swift action each round on one target within 60 feet that can understand it. Each round, it can change targets at will (this is also a Swift action, although
the previous victim might suffer lasting effects from the whispers of loss, as described below). These intensified
whispers of loss have different effects, depending on the sorrowsworn demon’s whims and tactics.

At first level a Sorrowsworn Demon picks one of the following list of sorrows, and at 6th and 12th levels picks another option. All save DCs are 10+1/2 HD+Cha mod.
(click to show/hide)

Whispers of loss is a mind-affecting ability and only functions against creatures with an Intelligence score of 3 or higher. A creature that succeeds on the saving throw against a whispers of loss effect is immune to that particular Whisper (but not other types of whispers) for 24 hours.

Demon: At 2nd level the Sorrowsworn Demon gains resistance to electricity and a bonus on saves against poison equal to his HD, and resistance to fire, acid and cold equal to half his HD. Plus telepathy 40 feets plus 10 feets for each extra HD from here. Also gains the evil and chaotic subtypes and his weapons/natural attacks count as evil and chaotic for bypassing DR.

Mind Reading: At 2nd level once per round as a Swift action, a sorrowsworn demon can read the mind of one opponent (Will DC 10+1/2 HD+Cha mod negates). This ability functions exactly as the Detect Thoughts spell (caster level 20th), except that the effect is immediate. An opponent that fails this save takes a -1 penalty on saves against
Whispers of Loss (see above). A creature that succeeds on the saving throw is immune to that Sorrowsworn Demon’s Mind Reading ability for the next 24 hours.

Abyss Skin: At 3rd level the Sorrowswordn Demon gains DR/cold iron and good equal to half its HD and SR equal to 11+HD. It may raise or drop its SR at any time as a free action, even if it isn't its turn.

Lesser Sorrow Magic: At 3rd level the Sorrowsworn Demon can use Detect Magic and Invisibility 1/hour per HD, plus Touch of Idiocy 1/hour per 3 HD.

Dark Wings: At 4th level the Sorrowsworn Demon becomes able to fly at double its land speed with poor maneuverability. Plus it is now under a permanent Nondetection effect.

Growing Sorrow: At 5th level the Sorrowsworn Demon grows one size category. Its Natural armor increases by 1. Plus it no longer takes size penalties to Hide checks, and actually gains a racial bonus to Hide, Move Silently, and Survival checks equal to half its HD.

Aura of Loss: At 6th level a sorrowsworn demon radiates feelings of intense personal loss. Any creature within 30 feet of a sorrowsworn demon must make a DC 10+1/2 HD+Cha mod Will save or be overwhelmed with feelings of despair as they continually visualize the most terrible losses they’ve ever endured or can imagine happening. These feelings manifest as a –2 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, ability checks, and skill checks. An opponent that fails this save takes an extra -1 penalty on saves agains Whispers of loss

In addition, due to the distracting nature of the aura, any affected creatures that attempt to cast spells must succeed
on a Concentration check (DC 20 + 2*spell level) to avoid losing the spell. This ability lasts for as long as affected creatures remain within the area of the aura and for 2d6 rounds after they leave. Creatures that leave the aura and reenter must make another save upon reentry or be affected once more, regardless of whether they made their initial
saving throw. The sorrowsworn demon can suppress or activate this ability at will as a Swift action. This is a mind-affecting ability.

Advanced Sorrow Magic: At 7th level the Sorrowsworn Demon can use Unholy Blight and Dispel Magic each 1/hour per 5 HD. At 11 HD the Dispel Magic upgrades to Greater Dispel Magic. Save DC 10+1/2 HD+Cha mod.

Gray Glaive: At 7th level by spending 8 hours in a place where great loss hapened in the last week, the Sorrowsworn Demon can summon forth a Glaive that has a +1 enanchment bonus to attack and damage rolls for each 2 HD of the Sorrowsworn Demon. The Glaive can only gain a max of +5 bonus to attack and damage rolls this way, but excess bonus can be used to gain abilities from the following list
(click to show/hide)

If this Glaive is destroyed or lost, the Sorrowsworn Demon can repeat the creation process, in which case the previous weapon (or its remains) disapear in smoke.

Feed on Despair: At 8th level whenever an opponent fails their save against Whispers of Loss, the Sorrowsworn Demon heals HP equal to its HD plus its Cha mod. If this would go over their max HP, they gain the excess in temporary HP that lasts up to 1 hour (but don't stack with more temporary hit points as normal). In addition the Sorrosworn Demon max HP increases by 1 per HD.

Adept Sorrow Magic: At 9th level the Sorrowsworn Demon can use Teleport 1/hour per 3 HD and Mind Fog 1/day per 9 HD. Save DC 1+1/2 HD+Cha mod. At 13 HD the Teleport upgrades to greater Teleport.

Strong Willed: Masters of manipulating minds, sorrow sworn demons are in turn especially resistant to
similar abilities. At 10th level it gains  a +4 racial bonus on saves against mind-affecting spells and abilities, plus a +4 bonus on Iniative checks and a racial bonus on Sense Motive checks equal to ½ HD.

Demonic Hunger: At 10th level the Sorrowsworn Demon 's natural Bite inflicts 1 point of Con damage whitout any save allowed.

Greater Sorrow Magic: At 11th level the Sorrowsworn Demon can use  Feeblemind and Plane Shift each 1/day per 4 HD. Save DCs are 10+1/2 HD+Cha mod.

Spreading Sorrow: At 12th level Whispers of Loss becomes free action 1/round . Once per hour instead, as a fullround action the Sorrowsworn Demon may use Whispers of Loss in any number of targets whitin range (he may choose to inflict a diferent type of Whisper on each target at its choice).

Gloom Glaive: At 13th level enemies damaged by the Gray Glaive take a stacking -1 penalty on saves against the Mind-Affecting abilities (no more than once per round). Each day they're allowed a Will save with DC 10+1/2 HD+Cha mod to remove one “level” of penalty inflicted. Enemies immune to mind-affecting with an Int Score of 3 or more instead of the penalty can be affected by the Sorrowsworn Demon's Mind-Affecting abilities for 1 hour, but they gain a +5 bonus on such saves. If their immunity had already been removed, then further hits from the Gray Glaive inflict the penalty as normal, altough it only lasts for 1 hour.

Prey on  Weakness: At 14th level whenever an enemy fails a Save from another source or is sucessfully Tripped/Grappled/Disarmed/Bullrushed from another opponent, the Sorrowsworn Demon may perform either an attack with its Gray Glaive or use Whispers of Loss on said enemy as an immediate action, provided they're whitin range.

Supreme Sorrow Magic: At 15th level the Sorrowsworn Demon may use  Weird as a SLA 1/day with DC 10+1/2 HD+Cha mod. For each target failing one save against this SLA, the Sorrowsworn Demon has a cumulative 5% chance of recovering the use of this ability. Enemies immune to stun are dazed instead. Enemies immune to Str damage take an equal penalty to Str for 1 round.

Grim Glaive: At 16th level whenever the Sorrowsworn Demon attacks with its Gray Glaive, it may choose to attack any and  all enemies currently affected by its Aura of Loss, even if they're not inside its normal reach. In addition the Sorrowsworn Demon ignores concealment and miss chances with its Gray Glaive against enemies currently affected by its Aura of Loss and inside its Glaive reach!

Haunting Sorrow: Creatures of loss, sorrowsworn demons appear only after a war or battle has finished. They prey on the feelings of great sorrow that permeate a region after the loss of its youth and promise. Favored haunts of sorrowsworn demons include mass graves, orphanages, hospitals, and the homes of those who have lost loved ones to battle. Wherever one can find the greatest concentration of souls suffering from loss, one can also often find a lurking sorrowsworn demon, encouraging those feelings and sating itself on them.

At 17th level the Sorrowsworn Demon can automatically feel the presence of creatures filled with Sorrow inside its telepathy range (altough that doesn't reveal their exact position, just direction and presence). This includes those that have recently lost something very important to themselves.

Such creatures take an additional -1 penalty on saves against the Sorrowsworn Demon mind affecting abilities. If the Sorrowsworn Demon spends at least 8 hours with those creatures inside its Telepathy range, it gains a profane bonus on attack rolls, damage rolls, saves and skill checks equal to 1/10th the combined HD of all such affected creatures for the next 24 hours, up to a bonus equal to ¼ its own HD, plus being healed of all HP, ability damage/drain and removing all current ill conditions and effects it may've been under, including death. It also gains temporary HP equal to 1/10th the combined HD of all such affected creatures for the next 24 hours.

In addition the Sorrowsworn Demon can “remember” a number of creatures up to its Con mod that failed their saves against either Aura of Loss or Whispers of Loss. It can teleport to an adjacent square to such creatures whitout spending uses of its Teleport SLA as long as they're in the same plane. If they're in another plane, then it can use its Plane Shift to get to said plane, even if it's a private one or extraplanar space.

Finally the Sorrowsworn Demon becomes immune to all divination effects coming from enemies that ever failed their save against Aura of Loss unless they're whitin 10 feet of the Sorrowsworn Demon itself, including effects such as See Invisibility and True Seeing being unable to pierce its Invisibility SLA.

Ooohhh, I've been waiting for this one, very happy to see it. And well done, too.

A question about the aura. It forces a save each time an enemy enters or re-enters it, and is activated/deactivated with a swift action. Can a Sorrowsworn Demon continually deactivate and reactivate it's aura to force opponents who succeeded on their saving throws make new ones?

Yes. Altough that's a swift action, so you could only do it every couple rounds.

The saving throws seem a bit off at level 8.

EDIT: Also, is it intended that the weapon enhancement table for Grey Glaive possesses lower values than those given in books? For example, Eager is normally a +2 enhancement (according to realmshelp, at least), but is listed at +1.

EDIT2: Souldrinking especially seems quite powerful at +1, and is normally +4.

I assume from the wording of the ability, as well, that bonuses cannot be taken until 12HD, as it mentions that only excess points past +5 can be spent on abilities.

These were adjusted in Magic Item Compendium, eager is +1. Souldrinking became a "synergy" ability that can only be applied to a weapon that already has enervating.

Nah, you can start trading them before you cap the +5 bonus.
